In a heartwarming gesture of generosity and community spirit, the Gwaram Local Government Council in Jigawa State has embarked on a noble mission to spread joy and celebration among 600 male orphans in the area. Led by the esteemed chairman of the council, Prof Abdurrahman Lawan, this initiative aims to ensure that these vulnerable individuals can partake in the upcoming Sallah festivities with dignity and happiness.
A Gift of Hope: Sallah Cloth Distribution
Prof Abdurrahman Lawan, who also serves as the Jigawa state Chairman of the Association of Chairmen of Local Government of Nigeria, revealed this heartwarming initiative following a meeting with local traditional rulers. With a heart full of compassion and a deep commitment to the welfare of orphans, the council has purchased 100 bundles of fabric to be distributed among 600 male orphans from various districts in the area.
The chairman emphasized the council’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of the community and ensuring that they too can experience the joy and celebration of the upcoming Sallah festivities. In addition to providing clothing for the male orphans, the council has also extended its generosity to orphan girls by distributing garments across the area.
Spreading Joy and Nourishment
Furthermore, in a display of comprehensive support, the council has allocated funds amounting to N600,000 to cover the costs of sewing the clothes for the recipients. Additionally, the council has provided essential food items, including 36 bags of pasta, four sacks of millet, and four sacks of maize, to 76 village heads in the domain. This holistic approach to supporting the community ensures that not only are the orphans clothed with dignity, but they are also nourished and cared for in a time of celebration.
The District Head of Fagam (Katikan Dutse), Auwal Adamu, commended the leadership of the council for their unwavering commitment to the welfare of orphans. Recognizing the significance of this donation, Adamu highlighted that beyond addressing immediate needs, such initiatives play a crucial role in alleviating food insecurity and promoting economic empowerment within the community.
As the Sallah celebration approaches, the spirit of compassion and generosity exhibited by the Gwaram Local Government Council serves as a shining example of community solidarity and care for the most vulnerable among us. Through their thoughtful actions, they not only provide material support but also sow seeds of hope, joy, and dignity in the hearts of those in need.
